Career Opportunities

  • Office of the City Clerk is hiring a Deputy Chief of Communications. If you're interested, email your cover letter, resume, two writing samples, and social media samples or portfolio (please include one video) to cityclerk@cityofchicago.org with the subject line "Deputy Chief of Communications.” The deadline to apply is Saturday, January 31by 5:00 PM.

Trainings

  • Apply to the Board Leadership Institute presented in partnership with United Way of Metro Chicago and Kellogg School Center for Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University. This 6-session, cohort-based program prepares individuals to serve on a nonprofit board. Apply by Friday, February 13.

  • The Hatchery Chicago is offering a six-month, holistic program, Incubation Cohort. This cohort program is intended to accelerate your launch to market using Lean Startup methodologies and a supportive community. The deadline to apply is Monday, February 2.

Grants

  • Apply to the Community Development Grant presented by Chicago Planning & Development. From small grants with a cap of $250,000 to large grants in excess of $5 million, support is available for projects of all sizes. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 13.

  • Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 AMPT Grant presented by AMPT: Advancing Nonprofits. The 2026 AMPT Grant supports organizations that have been directly impacted by recent shifts in the national political landscape. The deadline to apply is Monday, February 16 at 11:59 PM CDT.

  • Applications are being accepted for McKinsey Fast Grants 2026. This grant will provide $10,000 grants to four organizations whose founders show significant promise for impact. Grantees will also have access to McKinsey expertise/support to help refine and scale their organizations over a six-month period (May through November 2026). The deadline to apply is Wednesday, February 18 at 5:00 PM CT.

Scholarships

  • Chicago Coalition to End Homelessness offers renewable $4,000 college scholarships to at least five graduating seniors who experienced homelessness while in high school. Students from Chicago and suburban schools are eligible to apply as well as CCH youth leaders and former youth legal clients. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 10 at 5:00 PM.

  • Illinois Department of Transportation is hiring Engineering Interns. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work on exciting projects, and make a real impact on the state’s infrastructure.

  • Metropolitan Family Services is hosting a Winter Hiring Event on Wednesday, February 4 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Jones Center, 6422 South Kedzie.
