SUMMER INSTITUTE 2022 IS OUT OF SESSION
Thank you for joining us for the 2nd annual Summer Institute presented by West Side Forward, in conjunction with the Illinois Small Business Development Center and Chicago Business Affairs and Consumer Protection.
From Aug 8 –Aug 31 both virtually and in-person, we connected with individuals across Chicago who are on the path to enriching their personal and professional development. Attendees had the opportunity to choose from a variety of sessions from our three tracks: career, business, and general interests. During Summer Institute, we also offered an 8-week AMx 3D Printing Course in collaboration with 3Degrees and Richard J. Daley College.
Despite Summer Institute 2022 coming to an end, our work and service on the west side of Chicago and beyond will continue. Each month we host workshops, cohorts and other developmental and educational events independently and collaboratively with neighborhood, local, and state partners to support career seekers, entrepreneurs, and business owners. As an Illinois SBDC, we also offer a host of resources to assist business owners.

Explore | Connect | Network with the National Society of Black Engineers
Offered in conjunction with the National Society of Black Engineers Chicago Chapter, these 4-week sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to explore various careers in STEM, learn how to navigate career pathways, and get advice from local NSBE chapter members about how to begin their career.
This training is for adults to gain fundamental skills and experiences to secure jobs and successful high-growth careers in the fields of science, technology, and math.
3D Printing Certification Training

Why 3D Printing?
3D Printing is reshaping supply chains across industry sectors as companies seek to lower costs, secure manufacturing sovereignty and supply chain flexibility, and meet increased demand for custom products. In 2019 the industry was valued at $12 billion, a number that has steadily grown by 20-30% over the last five years.
3D Printing Certification Session will take place during West Side Forward's 2021 Summer Institute over 4 weeks starting in August 2021. The class will meet regularly two times per week (1-day instruction and 1-day industry tours).
Credentials Based
Students that successfully complete this session within the summer institute course will be eligible to earn the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) certification.
Content from one of the leading knowledge centers in the 3D Printing industry – Society of Manufacturing Engineers – Tooling U, will be facilitated in person by 3D Printing professionals.
